After a few delays and a bit of re-working the King Street Carnival finally gets going over a packed weekend, sporting over 300 bands in 28 venues through Newtown and a couple of surrounding suburbs.
Tonight I was able to catch a few acts at the south end of King Street.
The Melodrones – Union Hotel
The Melodrones kicks off the night at the Union giving us their signature dream pop with some slinky bass and plenty of atmospheric noisy guitar.

Check out their latest single here.
Marilyn Maria – Botany View Hotel
A quick dash down the road to see recently formed Sydney 4 piece, Marilyn Maria show off their gritty garage sound.

Sample some sounds here.
The Laurels – Union Hotel
Back to the Union just in time to catch The Laurels start up. They are fresh out the studio and gave the crowd a relentless wave of sonic shoegaze to soak up.

Preview their soon to be released album Homecoming, here.
Rubber Necker – Moshpit
Back down the road to see the mayhem of post punk unit Rubber Necker finish up the night at the Moshpit.
