All girl lineup tonight at Bei Ruth hosted by “She’s Amazing Presents” women’s collective. Even more strangely, tonight is a non-smoking event in a packed room.

Decibelles are a young French three piece that really know how to put on a show. They are made up of drums, guitar and bass that fills the room with sonic distortion and power pop tunes. The songs had a frenzy to them but were performed smoothly with a tightness that only comes from frequent touring. There was driving distorted bass, thumping drums and tortured guitar, including a hint of Dead Kennedys influence – songs were not overplayed and each one with a refreshing sound, making the band stand out from the rest of the standard pop punk formula. Everyone got a go at vocals, all delivered with determination and lots of passion and manic dancing across the stage.

Lots of pink notes tonight and while being as loud as a freight train, brown stayed away.
