FRENZEE have been on a hot tour of Aus, playing an insane amount of gigs. I caught up with them at The Hollywood Hotel in Surry Hills with supports Maggot Cave.
Maggot Cave
A three piece with drums guitar and growly vocals, these guys know how to grindcore. Short, fast and loud songs in your face all topped off by the obligatory cookie monster narrative driven by a frenetic double kick pedal.

Have a listen to the power here.
FRENZEE
All the way from Crete in Greece via Naarm / Melbourne, these three siblings are a family of rock and musical pedigree. Sometimes performing as a folk trio with traditional Greek sounds, tonight they were the power pack that is FRENZEE, another trio of drums, guitar and manic vocals.

From the get go this band comes out of the corner hard. The single guitar also picking up bass duties as part of the riffs and licks, close your eyes and you would swear there is bass playing in there. Up the front is Apollonia, tearing up the stage and ripping through the venue like a caged tiger – you can almost see the sizzling raw energy that drives her and the rest of the band.

Drums and guitar are driving, emphasising the vocals like punctuation. Songs have a rollicking full tilt beat – think of rage against the machine meets AC/DC and then throw a little Dead Kennedys in the mix and the result is a sweat filled room going nuts.

Catch em live when you can, cause who knows when they’ll be back. In the meantime, sample their latest release Whats Wrong With Me – yes, you will like it.
